New state highways manager for the south

The New Zealand Transport Agency has a new State Highways Manager for Otago and Southland.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has a new State Highways Manager for Otago and Southland.

Niclas Johansson, a Chartered Professional Engineer, recently took up this role and brings over 20 years experience in the civil construction industry to the job.  His specialist fields are contract management and strategic business development. He is also held in high regard for his expertise in the areas of risk analysis and programming around major project management.

Mr Johansson started work as a civil engineer in Sweden. He also spent 10 years managing civil construction projects in Africa, South America, China, Germany and the UK, before moving to New Zealand in1995.

In New Zealand he has worked in a variety of roles. These include four years with Transit New Zealand managing their Otago and Southland capital works portfolio. He also managed the investigation, development and roll-out of new procurement and contracting models for Transit.

Prior to taking up his new role with the NZ Transport Agency Mr Johansson was the South Island Project Director for Downer Edi Works.
