Introduction

Work category 325 provides for the sealing of existing unsealed roads.

Qualifying activities

Examples of qualifying activities
Examples of qualifying activities include, but may not be limited to:
- extending the length of sealing from a sealed onto an unsealed road
- road improvements as defined in work category 324: Road improvements associated with extending the length of sealing
You can discuss with Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency whether other potential activities not listed above might also be eligible for inclusion in this work category.

Exclusions
Work category 325 excludes:
- widening the seal of an existing sealed road – this should be conducted under work category 324: Road improvements
- a new cattle stop where there was none previously.

Funding assistance rate

The usual funding assistance rate (FAR) is:

the approved organisation's normal FAR, or
the approved organisation's special purpose road improvements FAR, or
100% of Waka Kotahi state highway costs.

Applying for funding approval

Applications for funding approval of proposed projects should be made through the improvement activity module in Transport Investment Online(external link) (TIO). To be eligible for funding funding from the National Land Transporto Fund , any new activity must be added to the relevant regional land transport plan and to the NationalLand Transport Programme.

End-of-year carryover

TIO(external link) will automatically carry over the unspent allocation every year. Therefore it is vital that approved organisations and Waka Kotahi (state highways) declare the unused allocation for completed projects by making a cost-scope adjustment via the reviews module in TIO.
