The 2017 New Zealand Guide to pavement structural design provides guidance for investigating, designing and constructing pavements in New Zealand.

This guide replaces the New Zealand supplement to the document, Pavement design – a guide to the structural design of road pavements (Austroads 2004) by Transit New Zealand (Transit 2007).

This guide should be read in conjunction with the Guide to pavement technology part 2: pavement structural design (Austroads 2012) and specifically addresses pavement issues which are unique to New Zealand conditions. It contains guidance on how New Zealand research can be incorporated into pavement design methods. Designers should also reference the 2017 New Zealand Guide to pavement evaluation and treatment design.
