Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) sought feedback on the proposal to install an additional toll point on the Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road.

Dunedin SH1-SH88 Safety Improvements

We sought feedback on a plan we have developed for SH1 Cumberland Street and SH88 St Andrew Street to improve safety and provide easy access for everyone to the New Dunedin Hospital, including emergency services. Proposed changes in the plan include turning changes at three intersections including SH88 St Andrew Street/SH1 Cumberland Street north.

Proposing new speed limits of 110km/h for Transmission Gully and Raumati Straights

We sought feedback on the propose new speed limits on SH1 Te Aranui o Te Rangihaeta – Transmission Gully and Raumati Straights.

Dunedin SH1 Cumberland Street south - Duke Street intersection turning

With 9 crashes between 2019 and 2023, the Duke Street/SH1 Cumberland Street south has been identified as a safety concern. We are proposing to address this by only allowing left turns out of the intersection on to SH1 south and remove straight through vehicle movements across the highway - the main cause of crashes at this site. We sought feedback on this proposed change.

SH1 Dunedin safety improvements

We're working on a plan to make Dunedin’s SH1 one-way system safer, and we sought feedback on several key safety improvements we are proposing along this highway corridor.

Land Transport Rule: Regulatory Systems Rule Amendment (RSRA) 2025

Minor changes to 9 Land Transport Rules are proposed to clarify and simplify legislation, reduce compliance costs, and improve safety. Proposed changes include for heavy vehicles and vehicle dimensions and mass, vehicle brakes, steering systems, windscreen wipe and wash systems, and traffic control devices Rules.



SH2 Hutt Valley "No U-turn" signs

We're proposing to install “No U-turn” signs at eleven intersections along State Highway 2 in the Hutt Valley to improve road safety. These changes will be rolled out in two phases, starting with the most high-risk areas. We sought public feedback on this proposal.

Asset Management Data Standard Provisional Release April 2025

We welcomed feedback from Approved Organisations on the April 2025 AMDS provisional releases, including new standards for Survey Mark, Vehicle Crossing, and Road Status—alongside updates to existing standards and guidance to support national symbology alignment.

New urban connectors speed reviews proposing to keep lower speeds

NZTA has opened new speed reviews on several sections of state highway that are categorised as urban connectors, after community feedback that people would like to keep lower speeds in these locations. Under the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2024 (the Rule), these sections are required to automatically reverse to their previous higher speed limit by 1 July 2025. These new speed reviews are proposing to change back to the lower speeds just after 1 July 2025.
