When someone passes away in New Zealand, we’re notified through a government data match with Births, Deaths and Marriages. Once we get this notification, we’ll begin updating our records.
You don’t need to do anything right away. We’ll send a letter to the estate or next of kin within 6 weeks of the passing.
You’re welcome to let us know. Please include a copy of the death certificate and driver licence (if you have it).
