With snow falling overnight and into this morning in many southern and central parts of the South Island, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises all drivers to avoid unnecessary journeys and check highways before setting off.
With snow falling heavily over parts of the southern and central South Island, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s highway teams ask everyone to stay off the highways and roads unless they are well prepared for the conditions and poor visibility.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency will be closing a 30 km stretch of SH6 south of Nelson for up to two weeks from Monday, 5 October to just before Saturday, 17 October (Election day). The highway will be reopened by Election Day.
