Ahuriri Estuary Bridge repair work across six nights this month

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising that State Highway 2 on the Ahuriri Estuary Bridge will undergo scheduled maintenance this week.

The work will start on Monday 10 February for three nights until Wednesday 12 February. Work continues for a further three nights next week, from Monday 17 February and finishing on Wednesday 19 February.

Work will take place from 7pm to 5am each night. While the work is underway, one lane of the bridge will be closed with stop/go traffic management in place. Both lanes will be fully open during the day.

Regional Transport Systems Manager Oliver Postings says the repair works involve replacing worn joint materials with longer lasting and more effective joints which will be waterproof.

“Maintaining our roads to ensure the safety of all motorists is a top priority and we thank people for their patience and cooperation while this work is underway.

“We will do our best to ensure that there is minimal traffic disruption during the night-time works.”
