Aorangi Bridge repairs update

|

The NZ Transport Agency is advising that work on bridge joints on Feilding’s Aorangi Bridge is being delayed because of wet weather.

The work to fix the bridge joints requires the use of an oil based product that requires a sustained period of fine weather to cure.

NZTA Regional Transport Systems Manager Ross I’Anson says while the Transport Agency had been hoping that the work would have been completed by now, “the weather has not been playing ball.”

“We need at least three days of fine weather to get the work done, so that means as soon as we get a window of opportunity, we’ll get the project underway.”

“This may mean motorists will get short notice about the work, but we will ensure that electronic messaging is updated as soon as we know it’s going ahead.”

While the work is underway one lane will be closed overnight between the hours of 7.00pm and 5.30am, when there will be Stop/Go traffic management.

“We apologise for any inconvenience but this work is necessary maintenance to ensure that the bridge remains operational.”
