Autumn scaling and abseil inspection Nevis Bluff, SH6, between Cromwell and Queenstown from Monday 30 April, for three weeks

|

People who use the road between Cromwell and Queenstown, State Highway 6, may spot rock debris from abseil scaling at the Nevis Bluff from Monday, 30 April.

People will need to build in extra time on their journeys as delays of up to ten minutes are likely for around three weeks on weekdays, says John Jarvis, Senior Network Manager, NZ Transport Agency.

The work is part of on-going safety and monitoring of the Nevis Bluff, involving abseil inspection and rock scaling to remove loose debris, and some investigation drilling for possible future stabilisation works.

The Nevis Bluff is about half way between Cromwell and Queenstown – 25 minutes from Cromwell, 35 minutes from Queenstown.

Because road user safety is important, delays of up to ten minutes should be planned for between 8 am and 5 pm weekdays through to Friday, 18 May, Mr Jarvis says.  This work is subject to weather conditions.

The Transport Agency thanks everyone for their patience and for taking care while this important safety work is completed leading into winter.
