BP Silverdale SH1 closure for highway safety improvements

|

The NZ Transport Agency will close the on and off ramps at the Silverdale BP Service Station, on Auckland's Northern Motorway (State Highway 1) for four hours on Sunday night (12 June) for water blasting work to improve the skid resistance of the highway.

Northbound drivers will not be able to use the service station from midnight until 4am, and will need to make alternative arrangements for purchasing fuel.

"We do not anticipate that traffic volumes will be heavy overnight, but we want to advise those drivers using SH1 at this time that they should ensure they have enough fuel for their journeys," says NZTA's State Highways Manager for Northland and Auckland, Tommy Parker.

All lanes of the motorway will remain open.

This work is an important part of the NZTA's maintenance programme and will improve the skid resistance of the highway, which will help drivers to stop safely on this section of the network.
