Changes to transport service licence application process

|

The NZ Transport Agency has changed the process for applying for transport service licences (TSLs) as part of improving the experience for customers.

The changes mean all applications for small or large passenger, goods, vehicle recovery or vehicle rental service licences as part of operating a business will be completed online or at a driver licensing agent such as AA or VTNZ.

The Transport Agency’s General Manager of Customer Design and Delivery, Charles Ronaldson, says the changes will benefit customers.

“The new application options mean we can check completeness during the process. Incomplete applications cause delays, so minimising the chance of missing information means it’ll be a better customer experience overall.

“We’ve also streamlined the application process and will no longer require customers to provide information that our teams can easily access and verify.

“Our new process balances making things easier for our customers with maintaining the rigorous checks we undertake in order to ensure operators are fit to hold these licences.”

The changes also enable the Transport Agency to comply with payment security standards.

The online TSL application service is now available. This new service provides a convenient and secure option for applicants who are the only director of a business (or are a sole trader or individual), and who have a RealMe verified identity and a New Zealand driver licence.

Applications can also be lodged in person at driver licensing agents, where counter staff will check that the paperwork is complete. Applications can no longer be sent via mail.
