Closures at busy central Auckland motorway intersection

|

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that there will be night time closures at the Hobson Street/Pitt Street/Union Street intersection with the Southern and Northwestern motorways in central Auckland, starting on Sunday, 28 March.

The closures will be in place between 8pm and 5am for around 3 nights.  The closures will affect traffic wanting to join and leave the motorways at the intersection. Detours will be in place.

The improvements are linked to the current upgrade of the traffic island at the intersection.  Old line markings will be removed and replaced, and new wiring to control traffic signal phases installed.

During the closures, traffic will be diverted via Cook Street, Greys Avenue and Sam Wrigley Street, and Union Street, and also Vincent Street some nights. The NZTA says the detours will be sign posted.

All work is weather dependant. If it can not be carried out on the date specified above, it will be done on the next available evening.

For updates or more information about these works, or any other motorway issues please call Auckland Motorways on 09 5200 200.
