Community encouraged to view digital motorway display

|

Digital displays on Stage 2 of the Christchurch Southern Motorway have been set-up at three locations for the local community to see what is planned for the next and final stage of this Road of National Significance (RoNS).

The first stage of the motorway, from Collins Street through to Halswell Junction Road, was completed late last year. It was one of the biggest ever roading projects undertaken in Christchurch, and despite the earthquakes, was completed on time and within budget.

Stage 2, which involves four-laning of Main South Road, just north of Rolleston to near Robinsons Road and construction of a new section of four-lane motorway through to link with Stage 1 at Halswell Junction Road, is scheduled to begin in 2015 and will complete the Southern Motorway.

The NZ Transport Agency has set-up the digital displays with updated material and a new flyover animation at:

  • Selwyn District Council offices, 2 Norman Kirk Drive, Rolleston
  • Upper Riccarton Library, 71 Main South Road, Christchurch
  • Christchurch City Council’s Civic Building at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch

The displays can be viewed at these locations until the middle of next month.

The flyover and all the information on Stage 2 are also available on the project website: www.nzta.govt.nz/csm2(external link)
