Delays possible on SH16 as remedial work gets underway

|

Auckland motorists are being advised of possible delays on State Highway 16, from Trigg Road to Matua Road, from this Monday (24 November) as remedial works get underway on the highway.

Reconstruction of the highway back in July failed after a severe storm swept through Auckland immediately following the re-sealing of the road, says the NZ Transport Agency’s Highway Manager Brett Gliddon.

“With settled forecast for next week, our contractors will be back on site from Monday to repair and re-seal the highway. It is expected the work will take four to five days to complete.”

He says with width restrictions along this section of the state highway, much of the work will need to be carried out under Stop/Go. “Where possible, we will ensure traffic flow in both directions.

“Work will be restricted to 9am to 3pm to avoid peak travel times and we will aim to complete the work with minimal disruption to traffic.”
