Detour in place starting Monday along SH2 near Francis Road

|

The NZ Transport Agency says a detour for north bound light vehicles will be in place from Monday (10 February) for two weeks to allow road surface rehabilitation work to take place along State Highway 2 (SH2) from the Waipapa River Bridge to just south of Francis Road.

The detour will only affect traffic heading north towards Katikati.  Light vehicles will detour via Youngson Road and Old Highway Road, while all heavy vehicles and residents of Francis Road and Omokoroa Road will be able to access this section of SH2 through a manual stop/go traffic operation but under speed restriction.

Traffic heading south towards Tauranga will still be able to travel along this section of State Highway 2 through the road works, a speed restriction will be in place.

The works will commence from 7.30am on Monday, from Tuesday onwards work will start at 6.00am and go through to 6.00pm daily. Provided weather conditions permit the road surface rehabilitation work is expected to be completed by Monday 24 February.

The work, part of the Transport Agency annual maintenance activity is being done to ensure the road surface is safe for driving on all year long.

The Transport Agency would like to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience and thanks them for their patience while this important work is being undertaken.
