Harbour Bridge roadworks to finish early

|

The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that the Auckland Harbour Bridge will be reopened to full capacity on Monday morning, three days ahead of schedule.

Auckland-Northland highways manager Brett Gliddon says the bridge will be back to full operation with the reopening of the two northbound clip-on lanes, as well as the Curran Street on-ramp and Stafford Road off-ramp, from early on Monday morning 5 January.

This follows the resurfacing of those lanes, which began on Boxing Day.

"While this work was scheduled for when traffic levels were at their lowest, we do recognise that some delays were unavoidable and we thank everyone for being so patient and understanding while this important work was carried out."

Mr Gliddon says good weather played a hand in the work being completed ahead of schedule. He has also thanked the contractors for their hard work and commitment over the holiday period, enabling the bridge to be fully open in time for the start of the working week.

"Our hat goes off to the crews who have worked incredibly hard to get this work done during the quieter holiday period, so that it wouldn't cause disruption for commuters in the New Year."
