Maintenance on SH1 Auckland Harbour Bridge centre lanes and southbound between Fanshawe Street and Greenlane - 17 to 19 July

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that maintenance work on State Highway 1 (SH1) southbound from Fanshawe Street to Greenlane and Auckland Harbour Bridge centre lanes in both directions will take place on Sunday 17, Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July between 10pm and 5am.

How will you be affected?

The Auckland Harbour Bridge centre lanes will be closed in both directions while essential maintenance is carried out. Traffic will be able to travel in both directions on the bridge at all times.

The following ramps/links will also be closed. Signposted detours will be in place.

  • SH1 Hobson Street southbound on-ramp  
  • SH1 Symonds Street southbound on-ramp  
  • SH1 St Marks southbound on-ramp  
  • SH1 Gillies Avenue southbound off-ramp  
  • SH1 Market Road southbound off-ramp  
  • SH1 Greenlane East southbound off-ramp  
  • SH1 Khyber Pass southbound on-ramp 
  • SH16 eastbound to SH1 southbound link  
  • SH1 Cook Street southbound off-ramp  
  • SH16 westbound to SH1 northbound link  

SH1 will be closed southbound between Fanshawe Street and Greenlane interchange. A signposted detour will direct traffic via Fanshawe Street, Beach Road, Grafton Road, Khyber Pass Road, Broadway, Great South Road and Greenlane East. 

Emergency services will need to use the detour routes. 

To avoid congestion please use alternative routes where possible. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
