More road closures at Welcome Bay next week

|

A section of the Welcome Bay Roundabout, the northern end of Welcome Bay Road, and Ohauiti Road at the intersection of Welcome Bay Road will all be closed overnight this week as part of on the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) project to signalise the Welcome Bay and Maungatapu roundabouts.

Monday Night.
Access to Ohauiti Road from Welcome Bay Road will be closed from 7pm Monday 8 December to 6am Tuesday morning 9 December to allow the contractor to undertake the final surfacing on Welcome Bay Road.

During this time Ohauiti Road traffic will need to follow the sign posted detours via Poike Road and State Highway 29.

Tuesday and Wednesday Night.
The section of the Welcome Bay Roundabout and Welcome Bay Road between the State Highway and Ohauiti Road will be closed overnight from 7pm Tuesday 9 December to 6am Wednesday 10 December, and again the following evening at 7pm Wednesday 10 December to 6am Thursday 11 December.

Traffic travelling on SH2/29 between the Welcome Bay and Maungatapu roundabouts will be diverted two ways on the north-bound lanes between the roundabouts. Welcome Bay Road traffic will be diverted along Ohauiti Road, Poike Road and SH29 while the closures are in place. These closures are to allow the final surfacing of the Welcome Bay Road side and approaches to the Welcome Bay roundabout.

This work is weather dependant and if postponed will be carried out on the next suitable day.
