Motorists asked to drive carefully through Motu Bridge site

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists to drive with caution through the new Motu Bridge site on State Highway 2, north of Matawai.

As part of the Motu Bridge replacement project, chip seal is being repaired between Monday 13 and Friday 17 January. In the meantime a temporary 50 kilometre per hour speed restriction will be in place.

During repair works, stop/go traffic management will be in place with a 30 kilometre per hour speed restriction.

“Until the site is repaired, an uneven surface and loose material can be expected,” Senior Project Manager Rob Partridge says.

“Motorists should slow down to reflect the conditions of the site.”

The site is being monitored by contractors.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
