One city-bound lane reopens on State Highway 16 at Western Springs

|

The NZ Transport Agency advises Auckland motorists that one city-bound lane has reopened on State Highway 16 at Western Springs.

Motorists can also exit the motorway at the Western Springs off ramp and return to the motorway on the on ramp. Great North Road to the city is an alternative route.

Police closed all city-bound lanes after the crash involving a motorcyclist and a rubbish truck this morning at 6:40am just after the off ramp.

Traffic backed up on SH16, SH18 and SH20, and will take some time to clear, says Auckland Operations Manager Rua Pani.

The Transport Agency advises motorists to avoid the area this morning or delay their journeys. The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience and understanding.

Ms Pani says the Transport Agency is doing all it can to assist police. Police are not yet able to give an indication of when all motorway lanes will reopen.
