Update regarding work to make the entrance to Te Tokanganui-a-Noho marae safer for pedestrians to cross State Highway 3 Awakino Road.

19 August 2022

Traffic Management for the Te Tokanganui-a-Noho marae pedestrian upgrade will be changed from Stop/Go to a detour as of Monday 22 August.

Traffic heading east on State Highway 30 will need to detour north along Carroll Street, cross the railway line on Ward Street and then head south on Rora St. The same detour will apply in reverse for westbound traffic. The project is expected to be complete end of September.

This updates the information in the Traffic Bulletin issued below:

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that there will be Stop/Go operations at the intersection of State Highway 3 and State Highway 30 in Te Kūiti from 15 August for up to six weeks.

Work will take place to make the entrance to Te Tokanganui-a-Noho marae safer for pedestrians to cross State Highway 3 Awakino Road.

To keep site staff and motorists safe, Stop/Go traffic control will be in place from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday from 15 August until the end of September.

This will affect State Highway 3 Awakino Road, State Highway 30 Waitete Road and Rora St in Te Kūiti.

Traffic will also need to be stopped for trains on the Main Trunk rail line which passes through the middle of the site.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and avoid this intersection if possible.

Waka Kotahi thanks the Te Kūiti community for their patience while we carry out this work.
