Plan ahead as Kopuaroa Hill improvement project gets underway

|

Work on a project to stabilise State Highway 35 at Kopuaroa Hill, approximately 10km north of Te Puia Springs, will get underway from Monday (29 August 2022).

The enabling works, including tree felling and the relocation of a power pole, are expected to take up to seven days to complete. This work is required prior to starting the main work, which will involve cutting into the uphill embankment and moving the road onto more stable ground.

Stop/Go traffic management will be in place and the existing 30km/h temporary speed limit will remain until the work is complete.

Waka Kotahi is currently engaging with key partners and stakeholders and will confirm a start date for the main work on completion of the enabling works.

People are asked to plan ahead, be patient and expect delays of up to ten minutes.

This project is part of the Connecting Tairāwhiti programme of projects across the northern Hawke’s Bay and Tairāwhiti regions to make roads more resilient and safer for road users, which is funded by the National Land Transport Fund, the Provincial Growth Fund and regional package of the NZ Upgrade Programme.
