Road resurfacing and drainage installation on Matamata's main street from next week

Road resurfacing and drainage installation works get underway next Tuesday (3 April) on Matamata's main street, Broadway (State Highway 24).

Kaye Clark, Waikato State Highway Manager for the NZ Transport Agency, says the works should to take three weeks to complete, with road crews working overnight Monday to Friday except for the Easter holiday period.  "We are also ensuring there is minimal disruption to traffic in the area by having the work carried out between 8.30pm and 6.00am on weeknights."

Mrs Clark says people travelling along the Broadway Street section of SH24 will need to take heed of works signage and speed restrictions in place at all times.  "This is important both for road users' own safety in general and the safety of our contractors when they are working on site overnight."

"In the meantime, we appreciate people's patience and care while these works are carried out," says Mrs Clark. The expected completion date for the works is April 30.
