Road resurfacing from this Sunday - Greenwood Street - Kahikatea Drive, Hamilton

|

Road resurfacing work is being carried out overnight from this Sunday (May 13) along sections of Greenwood Street and Kahikatea Drive, Hamilton. The night works are expected to take between two and two-and-a-half weeks to complete, however this will depend on weather conditions.

The NZ Transport Agency's (NZTA) State Highways Operations Manager, Karen Boyt, says road crews will be operating between 7.00 pm and 5.00 am each night during that period, although this may vary around traffic volumes to ensure disruption to traffic is minimised.

Ms Boyt says two-lane access should still be maintained for traffic through the area for the majority of the works activity, by narrowing the road to one side but still allowing traffic through with speed restrictions. "However, on occasion our works staff will be operating 'stop' and 'go' signs on site as needed at traffic islands and intersections along this route."

Warning signs and temporary speed reductions will be in place while the resurfacing is being carried out. "We would like to thank people for their attention and patience during the works period," says Ms Boyt. "As always in relation to our road maintenance activities, we'd also like to remind people to take heed of works signage, slow down and be cautious when moving through the works area, both for their own safety and that of the works crew."
