Roadworks on SH5 Taharua Road start next week

|

Work to replace a 900m section of road on State Highway 5 on the Napier/Taupo Road near Taharua Road will start this Monday (15 November).

Stop/Go traffic management and a temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place from 7am to 7pm from Monday. Minor delays can be expected.

Outside these hours the road will be open for traffic in both directions with temporary speed limits in place throughout.

Work is expected to take five weeks, weather permitting.

As part of the work, the existing road material will be excavated and removed, with new material put in its place.

Contractors will also be replacing a section of SH5 near Rangitaiki after the Christmas/New Year period. Work is scheduled to start on 10 January 2022 and is expected to take six weeks, weather permitting.

Waka Kotahi thanks road users for their patience while we carry out these important works.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
