The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) wishes to advise that 20 minute delays will continue through Saturday 4 April 2009 at the Nevis Bluff on SH 6 about midway between Cromwell and Queenstown, between 8:00am and 5:00pm as below.

This is to enable works at the Bluff to be complete by Thursday 9 April 2009 for Easter.

Due to the difficulty and unpredictable nature of the rock stabilisation work, traffic delays are required while work is carried out on the unstable rock face immediately above the highway for the safety of the travelling public.

Work will continue between 8:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Saturday with openings for traffic on the hour every hour during these times. Between the regular hourly openings there will be traffic delays of up to 20 minutes.

The NZTA, who indicated in February, that these delays would be occurring, regrets any inconvenience to road users and appreciates their patience while this essential safety work is carried out.

The NZTA will provide regular updates on this work. Information on this project will also be available on the NZTA’s Highway Info website at www.highwayinfo.govt.nz(external link).
