The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that State Highway 36 (between Tauranga and Rotorua) is CLOSED due to a serious crash just south of Western Road, Ngongotaha.
Emergency services are at the scene of the crash and a detour is in place via Western Road and State Highway 5 (SH5) for southbound traffic. Northbound traffic is being detoured via SH5.
Traffic is light at this stage.
