detour in place

|

Due to a truck crash earlier this morning, the NZ Transport Agency says State Highway 1 (SH1) between Taupo and Turangi at Titoki Point will be closed from 10am today to allow the removal operation to take place. It is expected this section of the highway will be closed for up to 4 hours, a detour is in place.

The detour is around the western side of the lake. For northbound traffic (heading towards Taupo) this is via SH1, SH32 and SH 30. For southbound traffic (heading towards Turangi) the detour is via Poihipi Road, SH32, SH41 onto SH1. Drivers are encouraged to allow additional travel time to their journey.

The Transport Agency apologises to motorists for the inconvenience and thanks them for their patience.
