SH1 Cambridge slow lane closed permanently from November 17

|

The State Highway 1 (SH1) southbound slow lane, just south of Cambridge, will be closed permanently from November 17 as work on the Waikato Expressway ramps up.

The slow lane, near the Cambridge Golf Course, will be closed so contractors can begin work on the Newcombe Road and Lokley Road intersections and the onramp for the new Southern Interchange - key parts of the Cambridge section of the Waikato Expressway, the NZ Transport Agency says.

An 80km/h speed limit will be introduced on SH1 from the Cambridge Golf Course for approximately two kilometres, from mid-November.

The speed restriction will remain in place until the works are completed.

The temporary stop/go currently in place on that stretch of SH1 will be removed before the slow lane is closed.

The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience and understanding while these important works are carried out.
