SH1 Te Rapa spill south bound lane closed avoid area or
follow detour in place

|

The south bound lane of the SH1 Te Rapa section of the Waikato Expressway is closed with south bound traffic to be detoured along Avalon Drive, due to a truck spill earlier.

A truck carrying a load of inert clay has spilled material  on the south bound lanes of the SH1 Te Rapa section.  Northbound traffic will still be able to travel along this section of highway, but a reduced speed limit will be in place until the clean-up operation is complete.

To minimise lengthy disruption and delays, drivers are advised to avoid the area if heading south bound and use alternate routes if possible.

The clean-up operation is likely to take up to 2 hours.

The Transport Agency appreciates these works may cause some inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience.
