SH2 closure between Napier and Wairoa Sunday morning

The NZ Transport Agency is advising that State Highway 2 between Napier and Wairoa will be closed north of Aropaoanui Road, on Sunday 18 June between 0830 and approximately 1030 am.

This is to allow for the retrieval of a vehicle stuck in the Devil’s Elbow area. The road closure is necessary because of the size of the crane that is required and narrowness of the road.

No detours exist.

It’s expected that the retrieval will take up to two hours to complete but contractors will work to reopen the road as quickly as possible.

The Transport Agency apologises for any inconvenience caused.
