SH2 Oponae slip has been cleared, two lanes now open to traffic

The NZ Transport Agency says contractors have cleared a major slip which came down on State Highway 2 (SH2) at Oponae between Opotiki and Gisborne on Tuesday night.

Two lanes are now open to traffic.

Contractors will be back at the site tomorrow to install a number of concrete barriers.

Stop/go traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place during the work. Motorists are advised to allow for delays of up to 15 minutes and to drive with extra care and attention for their safety and the safety of the workers.

The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience.
