SH25 Kuaotunu River Bridge to reopen today

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises State Highway 25 Kuaotunu River Bridge will reopen later today, ahead of schedule.

The bridge was closed on 22 September to repair damage caused by heavy rain.

Acting Waikato Systems Manager Rob Campbell says the bridge is due to reopen before dark tonight, with traffic management in place, including a 30 km/h speed restriction.

“Our contractors have done a fantastic job to get the bridge opened more than a week before Labour weekend, despite the heavy rain and strong winds that battered the area earlier this week.

“Weather dependent, the bridge will need to close again for the day on Monday to carry out resurfacing works.”

Mr Campbell says the resurfacing work will be completed the same day and encouraged motorists to check the Transport Agency’s Journey Planner website for up-to-date information about the closure on the day.

“The Transport Agency thanks the community for their patience.”

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
