SH25A to reopen this evening

|

The Transport Agency advises State Highway 25A between Kopu and Hikuai is expected to reopen this evening.

The road is currently closed between the intersection of State Highway 25 and State Highway 25A and the intersection of State Highway 25 and State Highway 26, due to a large slip covering both lanes on the eastern side of the Kopu/Hikuai summit.

Acting Waikato System Manager Rob Campbell says motorists who would normally use that route to get home may wish to delay their travel, rather than taking the State Highway 2 detour through Karangahake Gorge.

“While we don’t yet have a firm time, the road is expected to reopen sometime in the next few hours. Motorists may wish to delay their travel and check the Transport Agency’s Journey Planner website for updates about when the road reopens.

“The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience.”

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
