SH30 closed between Whakatane and Awakeri due to serious crash

State Highway 30 is currently closed between Whakatane and Awakeri due to a serious crash.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency Bay of Plenty System Manager Rob Campbell says the road is closed just north of Te Rahu Rd.

“Motorists are encouraged to delay their journeys where possible and to avoid the area.

“There is a detour in place via Te Rahu Rd, Selwyn Rd, Paroa Rd and Fortunes Rd before rejoining SH30 for traffic heading east toward Whakatane. Traffic travelling west toward Awakeri should use the same route, in reverse.”

Motorists are encouraged to visit the Transport Agency’s Journey Planner website for up-to-date information about the closure.

“The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience.”

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
