SH35 Raukokore River Bridge Repairs completed

|

Repairs to the Raukokore River Bridge on State Highway 35 have been completed, with the bridge being accessible from this weekend.

After a routine inspection undertaken in February identified an internal void and an area of concrete that required repair, weight restrictions were put in place to limit vehicle weights on the bridge until repairs were completed.

With the repairs now successfully completed, Waka Kotahi advises that from midnight Saturday 5th March the temporary “80% Class 1” weight restriction will be lifted. The bridge will continue to have a posted 10km/hr speed restriction for heavy vehicles. 50MAX vehicles will be able to use the bridge again.

Steel plates are currently in place on the top of the bridge to protect the repaired areas and will remain in place until early April when the concrete has cured. The 30km/hr temporary speed limit will be in place for light vehicles is to assist in keeping the plates in place during this time.

The steel plates and temporary speed limit will be removed at the same time, along with the temporary access that allowed ingress to the repair site, at a later date.
