SH60 Tākaka Hill road one-night closure on Thursday 18 February from 9pm

|

Following a vehicle hitting a guardrail on Tākaka Hill (SH60) last weekend*, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency needs to urgently replace the section of damaged barrier.

“This is for the safety of all road users and importantly, to protect our crews working underneath the road on the new retaining walls,” says Andrew Adams, Senior Project Manager for Waka Kotahi.

From 9pm Thursday, 18 February to 5.00am Friday, 19 February, Tākaka Hill road, SH60, will be closed to enable a work crew to repair the damaged barrier.

If people need to get over the hill for night work or essential commitments, please:

Access will always be available for emergency services throughout the closure.

Please drive with care through the roadworks. Not only do further strikes to the temporary barriers create additional work, delays and cost for the project team, we want everyone to reach their destination safely.

*Waka Kotahi has no record of the vehicle that damaged the guardrail or the driver at this stage. However, once a guardrail is damaged it has to be replaced to continue doing its job.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
