Tauranga Eastern Link - temporary road closures and layoutchanges for the State Highway 2/Domain Road intersection

|

Motorists are advised that temporary road closures and road layout changes will take place this weekend at the State Highway 2 (SH2) Domain Road intersection near Papamoa, this will allow construction of the Domain Road interchange (part of the NZ Transport Agency’s Tauranga Eastern Link project) to take place.

The Domain Road closure will start this Friday (5 July) between Tara Road and the SH2 roundabout from 6.00pm until 6.00am Saturday morning (6 July).  This area will be closed again Saturday evening from 7.00pm, with the road not expected to be reopened until Monday 8 July at 6.00am.

Sign posted detours via State Highway 2, Bell Road, Parton Road and Tara Road will be in place, motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to adhere to the posted speed restrictions and detours.

As of next Monday the State Highway 2 Domain Road intersection will have a new road layout with traffic moved onto a temporary roundabout and slip lane so that ground preparation work can take place on the existing highway.

This work is weather dependent, and if wet, the work will be undertaken on the next suitable day.

The Agency wants to thank drivers in advance for their patience while we get this important work underway, if motorists want to find out more about the timing of this work they should go to the NZTA’s website at www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic/current-conditions(external link); or free phone 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).

The agency also uses other technology to provide information to enable drivers to make better informed choices about their travel.  On The Move is a free service which enables people to sign up for information about crashes, road works and driving conditions on their frequently used routes - to sign up, go to www.onthemove.govt.nz(external link)
