Temporary lane closure for Gladstone Road Bridge

|

Tairāwhiti Roads is advising motorists that Gladstone Road Bridge will be intermittently reduced to one lane with stop/go controllers between Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 September.

The historic bridge is currently being widened by three meters to create a shared walking and cycling path, as part of Gisborne’s Urban Cycleways Programme aimed at getting more locals on their bikes.

“Motorists should expect delays over this period and allow more time for their journeys,” Acting Tairāwhiti Roads General Manager Helen Harris says.

“Between now and January when the project is due to be complete, there will be several occasions when we will need to close one lane to allow the contractors to carry out neccesary works that require more space.

“Everyone involved will be working to minimise traffic disruption as much as possible,” Ms Harris says.
