Temporary road closure on SH 2 near Paeroa

|

A section of State Highway 2 just east of Paeroa will be temporarily closed from 10.00 am tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 11 April) to allow contractors to remove a truck which rolled off the road prior to the Easter weekend.

The truck rolled into the drain just before midnight last Thursday night (5 April), however the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) has been waiting until after the end of the holiday break to remove the vehicle.

NZTA State Highway Manager, Bryce Carter, says powerlines above the crash area will need to be shut off to allow crane access into the drain to remove the truck. "The NZTA will be endeavouring to keep the length of the road closure to a minimum and we expect the road will be closed for less than 3 hours."

"Those planning to use that section of SH2 from 10.00 am tomorrow morning should plan their journey around the closure or use alternative routes.  We thank motorists for their patience during this closure."
