Waikato - Access to Tamahere Drive closed to SH1 traffic from February 16

|

The NZ Transport Agency advises that Tamahere Drive will be permanently closed to State Highway 1 (SH1) traffic from 7am, February 16, as construction of the Cambridge section of the Waikato Expressway continues.

All state highway traffic will be required to use the Tamahere Interchange to access Airport Road from that date.

The closure is the first stage of traffic management to allow the completion of the Pickering Road overbridge on SH1 and construction of the final layout of local roads in this area.

The second stage will see the Pickering Road overbridge made live to SH1 traffic overnight on March 5.

When this happens, Tamahere Drive will remain closed to local traffic for a further two weeks (from March 5) while the local road connections between Pickering Road, Pencarrow Road and Tamahere Drive are completed.

Once the local road access is complete, local traffic will be able to use Tamahere Drive and the Tamahere Interchange to access SH1.

The Transport Agency apologises in advance for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience and understanding while these important construction works are completed.
