The NZ Transport Agency wishes to advise motorists planning to travel along State Highway 1 between Hamilton at Cambridge, that speed restriction and manual traffic operations will be in place next week as part of ongoing preliminary work to construct the Cambridge Section of the Waikato Expressway.

Tree felling work on State Highway 1 between Pencarrow Road and Discombe Road will start from Monday 2 December and continue until Friday 6 December, the speed limit will be reduced from 100 km/h to 30 km/h with manual stop/go traffic management in place from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

This work is weather dependent, and if wet, the work will commence on the next fine day.

The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience and ongoing co-operation while this work is being carried out.

The NZ Transport Agency’s website is regularly updated with information about most closures and detours at www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic(external link).  This information is also available by phoning the Transport Agency’s free phone on 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49), which can also be used to report any significant road issues or hazards.

Coincidently, drivers can now subscribe to On The Move which is a free service providing information about road closures, road works and driving conditions on their frequently used routes - to sign up, go to www.onthemove.govt.nz(external link)
