Road crews will be highly visible on Northland’s roads again this month as the NZ Transport Agency resumes its work to make the regions highways safer and more resilient.
The large slip which covered both sides of State Highway 6 north of Punakaiki on the West Coast at Meybille Bay yesterday may keep the road closed to traffic through Tuesday, 13 September, says the NZ Transport Agency.
A large slip late this afternoon has covered both sides of State Highway 6 north of Punakaiki at Meybille Bay, a narrow area of the Great Coast Road. The area has been prone to slips in the past, says the NZ Transport Agency.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that due to a fatal crash in the early hours on Sunday morning, State Highway 6 between Hira and the Wairau River Bridge, near Canvastown, Marlborough, is closed.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey on State Highway 1 in Northland as work gets underway to improve the road surface between the bridges at Waihopo.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 9pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday 16 September 2016. Please note this Traffic Bulletin is updated every Friday.
Drivers on South Island roads tonight and tomorrow morning are advised to take care as the southerly storm is still affecting road conditions and reducing choices on the key routes between Canterbury and the West Coast, says the NZ Transport Agency.
