The Kopu Bridge replacement project is already providing an economic boost for the region, with nearly 40 people now directly employed on the project as the new 578 metre long structure begins to take shape over the Waihou River.

24 beams were successfully lifted into place across the final two spans of the North Island Main Trunk Railway bridge overnight on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 February as part of the NZ Transport Agency’s SH20-1 Manukau Extension project.
Sealing the last remaining 19 kilometres of SH1 - to Cape Reinga in Northland - is now in its closing stages with work beginning on the final five kilometres to Waitiki Landing where the sealed section of the national highway currently ends.
The NZ Transport Agency advises of the following closures for motorway improvements. Closures start at 8pm and finish at 5am, unless otherwise stated. Work delayed by bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday 12 February.
The NZ Transport Agency is warning road users that they can expect delays from Monday 8 February 2010 as it carries out safety work on State Highway 6 at the Nevis Bluff, about midway between Cromwell and Queenstown.
