Safety barriers to help stop head-on crashes, rumble strips to give drivers a wake-up call, and intersection improvements are among possible changes to State Highway 2 (SH2) between Masterton and Carterton.
The southern Makorori rest area along State Hightway 35 will be closed today at 5pm for chip sealing, and will re-open on Thursday 19 July at 3pm once sealing is completed.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising State Highway 1 between Paekakariki and Pukerua Bay has been temporarily closed to allow more emergency services to access the crash site
