Drivers heading to Hawke’s Bay from Wairoa on State Highway 2 over Easter will see two new targeted safety signs directing them to a layby where they can pull over and safely check their mobile phones.
The NZ Transport Agency is seeking public input on a proposal to lower the speed limit from 100km/h to 80km/h along the section of State Highway 58 from State Highway 2 to Bradey Road.

The NZ Transport Agency has selected a preferred option for a new State Highway 3 route to replace the closed Manawatū Gorge, connecting the Manawatū, Tararua District, Hawke’s Bay and northern Wairarapa regions.
The NZ Transport Agency is advising that SH4 between Whanganui and Raetihi is scheduled to re-open at 4pm today (Wednesday March 7) following the installation of roadside barriers at a high risk slip site two kilometres south of Fields Track.
The last phase of work to rebuild a section of SH1, between Pukerua Bay and Paekakariki, damaged by ex-cyclone Gita in February will begin on Sunday March 11th.
