There will be night-time detours around Christchurch’s State Highway 1 Russley Road/Wairakei Road area over coming days as work continues on the Russley Road Upgrade.
With temperatures across the country much warmer than usual for this time of year, road surface temperatures are likely to be higher than 50°C today through Monday, 11 December, next week, says the NZ Transport Agency.

Due to yesterday’s flooding in Central Otago, State Highway 8 between the Roxburgh Hydro Dam, 9 km north of Roxburgh, and Millers Flat is closed with slips on either side of Roxburgh and in the town itself.
