In an effort to save lives and reduce serious injuries, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is proposing safer speed limits on nine sections State Highway 1 between Taupō Airport and Turangi.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is reviewing speed limits along State Highway 2 (SH2) between Katikati and Tauranga in an effort to save lives and prevent serious injuries from crashes along this high-risk road.
Three of the four approaches to Hawera’s main roundabout will be realigned and new concrete islands installed when works to improve visibility and encourage drivers to take more care begin on Monday 21 October.
The NZ Transport Agency advises the Tauranga-bound lane on State Highway 29 at Ruahihi, in the lower Kaimai Range, will be closed from 11am for several hours.
State Highway 4 remains closed following the large hillside slip that caused significant damage to the road south of Raetihi, with wet weather forecast this week expected to cause further slip movement.
The Transport Agency advises State Highway 1 is currently closed between Taupō and Tūrangi, 630m west of the Tauranga/Taupō Bridge, due to fallen trees blocking the road.
The new Te Ahu a Turanga: Manawatū Tararua Highway will be two lanes each way for the majority of the new road, including the plateau across the Ruahine Ranges.
