A recipe of heavy rain and high winds followed by fine weather has meant road maintenance contractors have had to utilise a range of skills this week to ensure the state highway network has been safe and accessible.
The heavy rain warning continues to make driving treacherous around the Coromandel Peninsula, with the bad weather now set to continue until 9am tomorrow, 31 October.
Due to recent poor weather, contractors require an extra three days to complete resealing works on State Highway 2 in the Waioeka Gorge this week, with the completion date now Friday 3 November.
Major works on the Takitimu North Link project will require a full closure of a section of Moffat Road, Bethlehem, for three months starting January 2024.
