Vehicle licence (rego) email scam

The most common scam is an email saying your rego is due. It includes a button or link for you to renew online, which takes you to a fake website. That website may ask you for your payment details and your driver licence details.

Here’s how you can tell it’s not a genuine email from us:

  • Check the common signs of a phishing scam
  • Check your rego expiry date on the label in your vehicle. We always put your expiry date in our emails. If there’s no expiry date, or it doesn’t match your label, it’s likely to be a scam email.

What to do if you’ve given your details to a scam

June 2021 rego scam

The most recent rego scam looks a little bit different to the other examples on this page. However, you should still do all of the same checks, and continue to follow our scam advice above, regardless of what the email you've received looks like.

Please don't enter your personal or payment details anywhere if the email you've received seems suspicious.

Other rego scams

Our genuine rego emails still look similar to the scam examples below, so you should still take care if you receive an email that looks like one of these.
